Grace Gospel Chapel

It was the Fall of the year 1914, and during the preceding years that and influx of immigrants from the West Indies came to New York. Many of them were settling in Harlem and the surrounding uptown areas of New York City. The Christians who were residents in this area took advantage of this opportunity to spread the gospel to the newcomers, as instructed in the great commission given by our Lord. “Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature” Mark 16:15. In due time it became evident that the Lord would have these believers to gather to His name in Harlem for worship, and a more effective witness to the locals in the area. After much discussion and waiting on the Lord, the brethren at the 125th Street Assembly gave them the right hand of fellowship, and commended them to the grace of God. A nucleus of twenty-five brethren ventured out to start the new work, and moved to 50 West 134th Street where Grace Gospel Chapel had its beginning. The work prospered as the hand of the Lord was evident. Many were saved and their numbers increased tremendously
