The Harlem School of the Arts (HSA) was founded by world-renowned soprano Dorothy Maynor in a local church with twelve neighborhood children in attendance. Since 1964, HSA has grown to enrich the lives of over 3000 students annually, providing beginning to advanced instruction in Dance, Music, Theatre, and the Visual Arts from preschool students to young adults. Children come to HSA from the Harlem community and throughout the tri-state area to learn, express and discover themselves in and through the arts.
