Trinity Cemetery, overlooking the Hudson River from upper Riverside Drive, is a special place of peace and tranquility far from the chrome and glass towers of central Manhattan. Giant hundred-year-old oaks and elms look down on grassy knolls and manicured walkways. Trinity Church Cemetery and Mausoleum is one of the most beautiful natural settings in the city of New York. The only remaining active cemetery in Manhattan, it is a quiet retreat located conveniently near the West Side Drive and mass transportation lines.

Site of the graves of John James Audubon, Alfred Tennyson Dickens, John Jacob Astor, and other eminent past citizens of New York City, Trinity Cemetery is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Two bronze tablets mark the spot where some of the fiercest fighting of the Revolutionary War occurred during the Battle of Washington Heights. Each Christmas, several hundred New Yorkers participate in a candlelight ceremony at the grave of Clement Clarke Moore, son of one of Trinity's past rectors and author of the beloved poem "A Visit From St. Nicholas."
