Fly Geenius facilitates youth designed, student oriented fashion with The Fresh Air Fund

Posted November 11, 2013

The Fresh Air Fund and Fly Geenius came together on November 2, 2013 for an exciting opportunity for a group of Fresh Air Fund students. Since 1877, The Fresh Air Fund has provided free summer experiences to more than 1.7 million children from New York City’s toughest neighborhoods. This summer, the not-for-profit agency partnered with the celebrated young clothing brand Fly Geenius through workshops at its Career Awareness Camp, Camp Mariah, allowing students to design their own clothing and backpacks that they can wear to school.

45 students unveiled their final designs on November 2nd, which fell within the themes of art, fashion and technology. Along with the rollout of their designs, students made brief presentation about the meaning of the design. Students were also given their own shirts and backpacks for participating in the collaboration!

The most iconic trendsetters in the world, including Madonna, Nicky Minaj, Chris Brown and dozens of other celebrities, have worn Fly Geenius. The brand has been featured on 106th and Park, and is making waves as an embodiment of the future of fashion. A “Fly Geenius” is someone with the dynamic ability to be stylish while still prioritizing intelligent choices without compromising their integrity.

Fly Geenius CEO Davon Bean has been hailed in the media and the fashion business for the vision of his two-year-old brand. “Culture and fashion go hand in hand. This collaboration with The Fresh Air Fund allows students to design a meaningful and cool fashion statement that can be embraced by other kids around the city and the world,” says Bean. “Our brand is creating a movement, and it’s exciting to share a purposeful mission with the great people of The Fresh Air Fund.”
