United Palace Theatre

The United Palace Theatre was the last of the Loew's "Wonder Theaters" to be built in New York, Loew's 175th Street was thought to be the most elaborate of architect Thomas Lamb's endeavors. The walls of the auditorium were embellished with Indo-Chinese decoration and the foyer featured a palatial staircase leading to a grandiose, aurora borealis headed by a goddess decoration. It facade was decorated in a blocky, stylized version of the Mayan style.

  • Christ Community United Church, which bought the theatre in 1969 has done a brilliant job in restoring and maintaining every detail that the original world-famous architect, Thomas Lamb created. So, please come to the many multi-cultural concerts, art exhibits, worship services and classes, and festivals being offered at our great venue.
