This year marks the 33rd anniversary of the African Diaspora International Film Festival – New York (ADIFF NY).
For more than three decades, ADIFF NY has showcased films from across the globe that celebrate the beauty, complexity, and diversity of the global Black experience. Featuring over 50 narratives and documentaries—from New Zealand to Chile, with stops in India, Canada, the United States and Chad—this year is no different.
As in every edition, ADIFF 2025 presents striking examples of storytelling across the global Black experience and beyond. Among them, Village Keeper from Canada is a tender and powerful portrait of Black motherhood and healing, while South Africa’s Mother City captures a defiant, years-long fight for land and justice in post-apartheid Cape Town.
The American psycho-thriller Meta Take One pushes cinematic boundaries through its gripping
tale of artistic obsession and chaos, while the documentary Who in the Hell Is Regina Jones? finally honors the pioneering founder of SOUL Magazine, who fought to center Black excellence in American media.
The Afro-Latino Shorts Program—featuring El Canon, Bi Ile, and Candombe—celebrates diasporic connections across Latin America through art, rhythm, and cultural memory. From West Africa, The Song of the Rifle delivers a haunting and urgent portrayal of a child soldier’s descent into war and his desperate struggle to reclaim his humanity.
With our Cinema and Censorship program featuring nine thought-provoking banned films, a Celebration of Caribbean Cinema, and other exciting showcases, ADIFF continues to be a wonderful cultural event to reflect, learn, connect, have fun, and be inspired.
Join us this year. Be part of the story.
