we invite you to ring in the holiday season with Klaus. In the wintery town of Smeerensburg, a postman named Jesper discovers Klaus, a talented but grumpy toymaker. Can Jesper convince the reclusive Klaus to bring his magical toys to the feuding village before it’s too late?
Klaus is the final screening of our Lenfest Kids: 60th Anniversary season. All semester long, we’ve shared family films produced by graduates of Columbia’s Film MFA program, from Jennifer Lee’s Frozen and Encanto to Malia Scotch Marmo’s Hook and Anne Goursaud’s (‘73) The Outsiders.
We are excited to close out the season by honoring another trailblazing woman in film who got her start at Columbia: Klaus’ Oscar-nominated producer, Jinko Gotoh (’82). Gotoh is the celebrated CGI producer of classic films from Finding Nemo (2003) to Lego Movie 2 (2019) and The Little Prince (2015). Before the movie, listen to Gotoh discuss her work in bringing Klaus (2019) to life with Spain’s SPA Studios.
After the movie, join us in the Lenfest Lobby for creative activities hosted by Columbia Artist/Teachers (CA/T). We are so grateful to CA/T for all of the wonderful reading, writing, and crafting workshops they’ve led for us this semester.
