Join the Studio Museum in Harlem for Studio Salon: Touched by the Mother, a special afternoon exploring Black masculinity, American art, and feminist perspectives through conversation and live performance.
Celebrating the release of Huey Copeland's new book, Touched by the Mother: Black Men, American Art, Feminist Horizons, published by the University of Chicago Press, the program brings Copeland into conversation with curator and writer Thomas Lax and acclaimed artist Glenn Ligon.
Together, the speakers will explore artistic practices, cultural representation, and the ways Black masculinity has been examined and reimagined through American art.
The event also features a musical performance by vocalist and interdisciplinary artist Alicia Hall Moran, bringing an additional creative dimension to the discussion.
Part of the museum's Studio Salon series, this free public program connects contemporary art, literature, and cultural dialogue. ASL interpretation will be provided.
