The Gadson Gallery is many different but related things. One is the business identity of artist Laura R. Gadson which is not a gallery in the traditional understanding of the word. We do not represent other artists or showcase their work. We do host events related to the Ms Gadson's work, the work of her art partner Shimoda and their joint venture The Harlem Aesthetic several times per year at Ms Gadson's home/studio/gallery in Harlem. These events often incorporate additional artists and artisans who showcase and sell their work.
"Since I enjoy exploring different creative mediums I named my business so it would not describe 1 specific thing that I do or make. The child of two creative parents I am very blessed to have inherited the best from both. Many people think of the Gadson Gallery as 225 west 134th street and yes my home is an extension of my artistic expression. The Gadson Gallery is also my creative journey, my art filled life, all that I am and all that I do.; and then I get to share all of that with others! How cool is that."
