David Lee Jones is an accomplished saxophonist, flautist, composer, arranger, and educator whose sound reflects deep roots in jazz, blues, R&B, and soul traditions. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Jones studied at Texas Southern University before earning a degree in Jazz Composition and Arranging from Berklee College of Music and later establishing his career in New York City.

Over a career spanning several decades, Jones has performed and recorded with an impressive range of artists across jazz, R&B, and popular music, including Jack McDuff, Phyllis Hyman, Sade, George Benson, the Mingus Big Band, and the Grammy Award–winning group Digable Planets, for whom he contributed horn arrangements and recording work.

Known for his soulful tone and stylistic versatility, Jones continues to perform as a bandleader and collaborator while contributing to New York’s vibrant jazz community through live performance, composition, and mentorship.
